Did you know that you can book or cancel appointments and order repeat prescriptions online using the  Patient Access online system?


Patient and Practice Benefit

Online access to appointment booking and repeat prescription ordering not only saves both time and money for the practice, but also allows reception staff to focus on other key areas and provide a better service to patients. The service has benefits for patients without internet access too - online booking system means that less people will be ringing the surgery, so it makes the practice more accessible over the phone.

The service has proved particularly popular with busy commuters, the elderly and people with disabilities. Families with young children are welcoming the service, as children often become ill at night, and parents can put their minds at rest by booking an appointment straightaway. Then if the child feels better in the morning, the appointment can be cancelled just as easily.

Please note:  Before you are able to use this service you must first register to have access to your personal registration information.  

To obtain you registration details 

  1. We ask you to complete a Patient Access Application Form which you can obtain from reception or can be downloaded by Clicking on: aplication for online services and have also read our Practice Guidance for Patient Access information by Clicking here     
  2. Once you have completed this form come to the Surgery in person with photo-id (e.g. passport/driving licence).   
  3. You will receive your registration details. These are needed in order to be able to set up your access screen on patient access.   
  4. Then follow the simple instructions below.


 First time use of patient access on-line services  

  1. Click on  https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/Register  and follow the log-on instructions.  
  2. You will be asked to create an account.  
  3. You will be prompted for your personal login details, which will be on your registration letter, previously obtained from the surgery.


Logging out

  1. Click the Logout link on the Home Page or the Logout button on the main menu bar.
  2. Close your Internet browser.

Note: The  website will automatically log you out after a period of inactivity. Type in your user name and password to log back in.


Your Responsibility - The practice will take every measure to ensure that your Patient Access application is secure. It is your responsibility to ensure that your Patient Access account remains this way. You are able to terminate or reset your Patient Account at any time by contacting the surgery in writing. You may wish to do this if you think someone else knows your logging in details or if you have shared details with a family member or partner and no longer wish them to know these details.

The practice does not manage the Patient Access Website and therefore cannot provide help with using Patient Access. Help screens are provided on the Website.


Booking & cancelling appointments online

Our online appointments booking system enables you to book or cancel your GP appointment at your convenience - even when the surgery is closed. However, due to the nature of nurses appointments we are unable to offer them online at this time although we hope to be able to offer this service in the future.


Please ensure that you book the appointments appropriately. If you are unsure as to whether it is appropriate for you to see a nurse or a doctor please telephone reception.

Before you begin to use Patient Access we would appreciate it if you could read the following guidance regarding the booking of appointments over the Internet. 

Reasons for Appointment We would ask that you enter a reason for your appointment in the box provided when booking an appointment this gives us the opportunity to ensure that it is appropriate for you to see the doctor rather than a nurse and helps the doctor to manage the clinical session. Please be assured that all details entered are secure and cannot be intercepted. Our practice has a strict confidentiality policy.

Reminder If we have your mobile phone number, you will receive a text 24 hours before your appointment to remind you of the date and time. 

Missed Appointments Please let us know if you will be unable to attend an appointment that you have booked online. You can either cancel this online or contact us by telephone to cancel it. Please cancel in good time to allow us to offer the appointment to another patient. We realise that there are valid reasons for not attending however we will be monitoring such occurrences on a regular basis. If you miss an appointment more than twice in one year we will remove your ability to use Patient Access, however you will still be able to book appointments with our receptionists.

Appointments Inappropriate use We monitor the use of this service and we are sure that you will find it useful. However if we find any abuse of the service, we will revoke your access to it. You will have to liaise with our reception team for services. We would consider inappropriate use as: Sending inappropriate or abusive messages,booking appointments and not using them more than twice a year, booking appointments for other family members using your name.


Registering online with the surgery

Although you are not able to actually register online to become a patient at Judges Close because you have to visit the surgery with formal identification you can, however, download copies of various pre-registration documents for completion. This will save time and make the registration process easier for you when you come to the surgery. For more details please go to the Registration icon above.
